I had been a few weeks since everything had gone down and Dick hadn't gotten over the fact that he had got a name. He actually had a name. There was no way for him to express in words how shocked and amazed he was. There was a element of fear. Fear in a way that people might not be able to grasp, but then he wasn't sure anyone was going to believe him. He was desperate to be over, but then there was the looming what then question. What would happen after it was all over? It would be over and he would still be where he was when he began all of this. Alone. It wouldn't bring his parents back, but maybe if it saved one family from feeling what he had felt then maybe he might be able to see the justice.
He had information, but he didn't know all the information that he had. If he was going to do something about Zucco it had to be more than tracking him down and brow beating the confession out of him. Things didn't work like that, not like it was in the movies or television. It would get tossed out, Zucco would walk and Dick could find himself in the very position that he wanted Zucco in.
Granted he did work Syracusa over and made sure that the man wasn't going to talk. Word on the street was that Syracusa was out of town and he wasn't coming back. Truth of the matter was that Syracusa had nowhere to go after what he did to Trina. No one could place him there, but Dick more than inferred that he knew what the man had did that he knew that Syracusa murdered her and that he had a choice talk and find himself hounded for the rest of his life to the point that Syracusa would start screwing up business for the people he worked for.
The only part about is that it would not get Trina the justice she deserved. She would not have her date in court, not today, but perhaps someday. It was something that Dick was going to have to force himself to live with because it wasn't perfect. None of it was perfect. There was no way to give everyone what they wanted. It felt like someone was always going to get shortchanged. Someone was always going to be the person that would have to live with the world as it was instead of how it could be. In Trina's case she didn't have to live with it, because she was gone.
It was a hard death to deal with because he knew she died trying to help him, trying to find a way to get closer to someone that kept everyone at arm’s length. Dick had his reasons, but it didn't mean that people didn't find their way in. She was somebody, perhaps not in the way Trina wanted, but she was and she deserved better than what she got from scum like Syracusa, but there was a line. A line that Dick couldn't cross or he would find himself in a place that he did not want to be. He would become the very monsters that he was attempting to bring to justice, but how much could one man be, a boy who was barely a man.
It was also he could think about while he knocked on the door, because he did want a life he wanted more than what he had, but there was business that had to be settled and if he was going to have any type of chance of bringing this to close, settling it then he was going to be able to do more than he was doing before which meant that he had to look beyond the moment.
When the door opened he looked the man in front of him in the eye shaking his head keeping him in silence.
"Don't ask how I got passed the gate." Better that they didn't think about it.
"Tell Wayne I'm in. I need a few days, but I'm in. He can give me the rules then, but I need a few days before I do it."
The butler looked Dick over for a moment as if he was searching for something, perhaps a reason, but he said nothing.
If this was going to work, Dick, was going to need a way to remove him completely from the lives of people could get hurt. Not that Wayne couldn't get hurt, but it would take a lot more to get to him right? He was doing this for his future and the future of others. If it was going to happen then it was going to have to start with him.
Never again. That's all that he could tell himself.
"So, we're cool right? A few days and I'll be back or Wayne can show up or whatever since he likes to keep tabs and all that." He held his hand up a bit backing away before turning to disappear back into the night. There was no indication if he walked or if he took a cab, but after five minutes or so the sound of a motorcycle could be heard in the distance heading away from Wayne Manor.
