Synopsis: Having endured animated skeletons Kalvin Halloway and Aislin Kelly believe now more than ever that the images of lives before are memories attempting to awaken and that it's tying to everything that's been happening lately.
Enter Teddy Kord who's arrived in St. Roch with a mission of his own. Visiting St. Roch University for professional and personal reasons Teddy encounters Kalvin who's finding himself tossed into yet another battle this time with mummies, the Sons of Anubis.
Rather than engage them in a full on battle Teddy decides to vacate the premises with Kalvin in tow literally when he uses the Blue Beetle Bug to escape know that the Sons of Anubis were there for Kalvin specifically.
After introductions are made Teddy presents Kalvin with a gold coin that has a stylized eagle on one face of it. Kalvin concerned that if the Sons of Anubis were after him then they will also being going after Aislin contacts her while Teddy pilots the Bug towards St. Roch studios.
Kalvin was right to be concerned because as Aislin was brought back on set to resume filming a scene the entire soundstage went dark and Aislin found herself caught in the middle of a deathmatch with the Sons of Anubis all of which was going to be filmed.
Pipe in hand she stand ready to do battle when she found herself ally in Danny who was critically injured, but also Troy who provided her with a more suitable weapon, Hawkgirl's mace. Between the two of them they were able to beat back the Sons of Anubis while revealing an interesting bit of information given the wrist guard that Troy was in possession of.
One of the Sons of Anubis knew of the design and what it meant stating one word before retreating with the others after their leader had already departered, "Themysciran".
Supplying Aislin with what information that he could and a coin of her own that was identical to Kalvin Troy departed just as the authorities arrived. Before he left Troy provided a brochure of the St. Roch museum along with the alarm codes and disappeared before the authorities could catch sight of him. With order restored Aislin answered the questions that she could as Kalvin's call came in.
Syncing up she find herself brought aboard the Bug as stories were exchanged including the appearance of Troy. Something was at work and it lead them to St. Roch museum upon. Teddy supplied Kalvin with an ankh and all three proceeded to enter the museum which was familiar to Aislin and Kalvin.
Upon reaching one of the exhibits Kalvin found a space in the wall where the ankh fit perfectly like a key revealing a secret passage that ran beneath the museum that took them to a hidden chamber which revealed the items that belonged to both Hawkman and Hawkgirl. The burgeoning memories which had been scratching the surface were rushing back to both Aislin and Kalvin reminded them of their shared destiny and the truth of who they were.
Overjoyed at their memories and their reunion Aislin and Kalvin along with Teddy were joined by another as he appeared in the chamber to welcome his old friends.
The Keeper as he called himself revealed that the time was right for them to return and that light was returning to the world. That darkness would be pushed back. He also revealed that it was not he that set this in motion directly, but his champion that who he had told to be the change he wished to see.
The Keeper was revealed to be Freddy Freeman the former Shazam who was now the Keeper of the Rock of Eternity. His time was limited, but he tasked Kalvin and Aislin with a quest to seek out Jackson Daniels who would be in need of their help and that Teddy had other work to do.
Teddy was recognized by Aislin and Kalvin now as the son of former friend, Ted Kord the Blue Beetle. Understanding that the world was different from what it was Kalvin and Ailsin knew that they could make the museum great once more and that they would again glide upon the wind with their wings once more.
However in New York interesting things were happening for Jonathan Daniels who found himself involved in a major traffic accident.

Ruckus at St. Roch University
KALVIN: After spending the last few days with Aislin, they'd discuss more indepth of what they see in these visions and what not. But there were still many answers, like… just who are they? These visions, memories … they never had voices, nothing was clear, everything was in short snippets. It was rather maddening, having this strong connection to someone without knowing why. They clicked outside of these feelings… but it was also these feelings that pushed them to a whole new level.
Currently, Kalvin was in the University's library. 'Working' on his history homework. More like unable to concentrate as he idly start doodling, figuring if he got it out of his system then maybe he could finally start on his project. He was usually reserved and quiet, he never trained how to fight… but the other day against the skeletons? It's like he knew how to use a sword for his whole life… maybe longer, it was such a strange feeling being able to fight without knowing how he knew… why didn't he run away? Why did he run into the battle.
There were so many things he had questions on. The scimitars they used were mainly used in ancient Egypt, in a time before tanks and airplanes. Where battles were fought on chariots and horseback. This was fruitless. How was he supposed to get things done when he had so many questions? It's not like Aislin had any answers… if anything, she had more questions than he did. The doodle was transforming itself from a sword to a skeleton holding the blade. Much like the ones they fought…
He was never a good artist, but this wasn't looking half bad…
TEDDY: "Mr. Kord." The call of his name was enough to halt Teddy's steps. He had been on the move for the better part of the week for various reasons. Being in St. Roch was more than luck or serendipity. He business here professional and personal. He wasn't sure what it would lead him at first, but he had an idea of why he was here. He looked down towards his watch before turning to the person that called his name.
"Wade." Wade. He was the head of the security detail. Teddy Kord. Security detail. Not something that people always put together as they weren't supposed to be seen. Precautions that he didn't always agree with, but he had to live with.
"Sir, this was an unscheduled stop. You were supposed to head to the dean's office and then meet with the president. The donation that the foundation made was supposed to be done quietly and you were supposed to be on your way." Teddy was reminded. He didn't get upset, because Wade was simply doing his job. However Teddy had a job that he had to do as well.
"In and out you said and then you would be heading to DC...." He abhorred going to DC, but sometimes if you wanted to champion a cause such as try to drum up support for a congressman's project then you had to put in an appearance. It didn't take much to keep Kord Industries afloat. His father had several patents for several inventions that he didn't release he was waiting for the right time. Teddy simply released them at the right time to help drive the profits up.
It was nice to see someone be successful, but he knew that he was being watched which is why he didn't make a habit of trying to hide his activities. Everything he did usually fell in like with the letter of the law and also brought recognition to his father's coming. They were in aerospace and given some of the designs that his father came up with they made a killing though they were always coming up with something new and despite the fact they face stiff competition they company couldn't be killed no matter how hard some of their competitors tried. To well diversified.
"If I want to take a tour of the campus I think I have to liberty to do so, Wade. I'm not going to run off you know me. Where am I going to go? Now shoo? Go bother a coed or something. Or a professor I don't know. It's a nice campus and it's nice to see the our money at work." They were in Louisiana which was always a hot bed of storm activity and there had been some damaging ones over the years.
However the university wasn't the only school that benefit from their philanthropic work. Kord Industries partnered with several schools to help support some of their departments which also meant that they had access to many of the up and coming graduates, but in this case he was looking for someone in particular.
Reaching into his pocket he looked down at the coin in his hand and waited for a moment unsure of which direction to head for a moment before flipping it. Heads left. Tails right.
With a flip of the coin he moved right towards the library.
KALVIN: Kalvin was just about done with the sketch as he put in the final details, adding something at the bottom that he had seen in his visions. Hieroglyphs. What they meant? He hadn't a clue. The book was checked out and Kal didn't trust the information on the internet. Call him old school in that regard. Finished with his sketching, he'd sigh and push it away as he pulled his phone out. While she was sleeping the other night, he had taken some pictures of her. Even snuck in a few when she wasn't looking that next morning. They weren't going anywhere.
But it would make him smile and then concentrate on his homework. It really was a strange sensation. Shaking his head, he'd look around the library some more, studying the various incarnations the library had gone though. There were still some spots that seemed like it was old enough to date back to the ancient greeks. It was pretty neat to see parts of columns and other things within the foundation of the building.
Rumor has it that this town used to be the home of Hawkman, but nobody knows what happened to him… he just .. vanished over 20 years ago. Rumors said that he died… but nobody recovered a body. Who knew what really happened to him. Shaking his head, he'd crack his book open to start looking through all the text to figure out what he has to take notes on and what he shouldn't. Then to start the project with a rough outline.
TEDDY: Looking it over he looked down at the coin in his hand and slipped it into his pocket. Instead of questioning Teddy went inside and though he had never been in the library before it wasn't unlike any other library he had seen before. It had books or at least that's how most library's were. He was working on a digitizing project more like he was continuing his father's work.
With the advent of a tablet think of it never having to go into a library unless you wanted to. No more fighting of texts because you could simply download the text to your tablet or access it via cloud services. It was the wave of the future and they pushed that though there were some books that couldn't be transfer via scanning they had to be entered into the system and there was something about books that would never go away, but it was far more economically and saved millions of trees.
He wouldn't say that print was dead, but it was definitely being retired and there were good things and bad things about that. However at the moment while he looked around he paused for a moment while he looked down at the satchel that hung off his shoulder. It had a few items in it and he knew that Wade wasn't to far away. Never too far neither was the rest of the detail.
Teddy had to decide how he was going to do this, because it could go really well or really badly it all depended upon what he said.
Reaching into his satchel he pulled out a tablet and began working on it looking over the information he had fathered. He knew the city from research, research that he had done before he left Chicago.
The time was right. The time was now. It had to be now.
"Sir can I help you?" He was at the reference desk so of course they were obliged to ask.
"I don't believe so, unless you can tell me how to find someone? I was supposed to meet him here. Perhaps you've seen him tall a bit on the lanky side. Mop of brown hair. Trouble maker name Kalvin." He said with a smile over at the girl behind the desk. "Kalvin..."
"Holloway..." A voice said several shelves across from Teddy. Almost at the same time the redhead had.
While Teddy continued engaging the young woman at the desk the body that was connected to the voice began moving along the aisles moving around the corners slowly almost gliding through the air in his movements.
KALVIN: Kalvin was pushing through the books. He liked books because he could mark them and make notes in them. They could be used when power was out, or when your laptop died. Or your tablet, for that matter. Most of his 'friends' in class laughed at his old ways. But they served him well, and while they laughed, he shot to top of his class. So, something obviously worked. While a lot of books were online and digitized, there was something about holding a book in your hands. To feel the raised letters against ones fingers…
Hearing his last name though, he'd press his lips together as he shifted to sit up a bit straighter. Glancing around trying to find who, or what said his name. After the fight with the skeletons, he wasn't sure what he was going to find next… was there a next? He didn't know. Shaking his head, he must be imagining things. Looking back at his drawing, he'd pull it back over and flesh out some details. Satisfied for now, he'd grab his book that he was looking over and put it over the pad of paper as he started highlighting things and figuring out what he wanted to write in his report.
It was on the Egyptian's culture transfer from Polytheism to Monothesim. And how the old gods slowly faded to a singular God thanks to the Romans when they took over Egypt. It was a really fascinating time. Or, so he thought. Pushing his hair behind his ear, he'd look around again. Something was setting him the edge of his seat. What was it? Probably nothing, he was just hearing things. Maybe now he was hearing things along with seeing things.
Greeeeeat.
TEDDY: The air in the library began to grow considerably colder with each passing second it was followed by a slight breeze, but it wasn't summer, fall or spring upon it. Not even winter despite the chilly bite that the air carried with it. Instead there was a musty smell, it smelled not of books, but scrolls and after that death and decay.
"What the hell is that smell!" Someone cried out from a few rows over.
The being draped in black paused for a second while he clutched an item in his hand.
"He is here." He breathed out in a soft voice following it with a deep inhale. "I can smell his essence. It's strong here. He has settled in a new vessel." A new vessel that should be shattered before recognition came upon him before that was is and awakens.
The smell of rotting flesh became more intense as the lights began to flicker in the library.
All of this had not gone unnoticed by Teddy who was still chatting the woman at the reference desk up. "I think..." He glanced around and reached into his pocket for a his coin. There was nothing not that he thought there would be anything.
Instead he reached into his satchel while glancing around and found what he was looking for and flipped the switch. There was a slight hum but the woman didn't notice.
"I want you to walk over there and pull the fire alarm and then exit the building." He said to her his voice sounding a bit different as it was modulated by the device in the satchel. To him it sounded normal, but to her it pushed certain portions of her brain making her a little more open to suggestion. She didn't question the request she simply walked over towards the fire alarm to pull it while Teddy began to move in the other direction, but the moment she pulled the fire alarm the lights in the library went out.
It only lasted a moment as the emergency lights came on, but when they did there was scream from the back of the building, but it was followed by other commotion as the ground in several points began to given in the foundation.
They were coming and and Teddy needed to act fast as he began moving from a brisk walk into a run as another scream was heard it was near the stairs to the basement. There were several stairwells that lead to the lower level and before someone else could act a door from the back was knocked down off it's hinges.
"HOLLOWAY!" It was a cry of several voices as someone came upon the group of what looked to be ancient Egyptian warriors dressed for battle complete with Egyptian axes. One would say that they looked like death, but they were actually preserved not the bandaged wrapped moments their skin didn't look like they came from the spa, but they defnitely didn't look like they had been dead for over 3500 years.
Before anyone could shout the axe came down on a table and began to tear threw it.
"FIND HIM!" One of them said. "BRING US HOLLOWAY!" The Sons of Anubis would have blood this day.
KALVIN: "What the hell?" he said closing his book as he looked around hearing an axe take to wood. Well, so much for starting his history paper today. Hopefully his professor will understand that he had to take care of ancient Egyptian warrior zombies. Because you know, that's normal. The lights were dim, just enough for one to get around. Then they bellowed his name. Not once, but twice. Must be popular he thought to himself as he went into self-preservation mode. How does that work, might you ask? Well, it involves flipping a table over, breaking the leg off and using it for a club. He's able to break it off with enough ease.
"I AM HALLOWAY, COME AND GET ME!" he roared. What the fuck was he doing? He was just going to bring them to him. This wasn't kosher at all running towards the middle of the library, he could see some other person coming further in. "You shouldn't be here, run. I'll take care of them!" shouting at Teddy, he had no idea who the young man was. But what was clear were the Sons of Anubis. Narrowing his eyes as he gripped the table leg as if it were some lethal mace.
He wanted to bring the attention of the figures. Once they were on him, he moved with speed and grace. Thousands of years of practice and fighting battle made one know how to fight. The wooden leg wouldn't do much against their axes, but it was more something to deflect their attacks. When one would swing, Kal would hop back just slightly. Enough for the momentum of the warrior's swing to carry it away from him. Then in an instant, Kal thrust the blunt end of the makeshift club into Warriors face.
Hoping to distract it enough. People needed to get out of here. So, that meant he needed to pull these guys to him. They wanted him?
Well, come get him.
TEDDY: Teddy didn't make it a habit of getting into situations that he couldn't get out of, because well that would get you killed. The fact that the lights were flickering and then out was a bad sign but at least the alarm was going off that is until it got cut but it should have sent a signal and that meant that the authorities would be here soon, but not soon enough.
Then as luck would have or perhaps serendipity he never understood the difference Kalvin was calling out for them to find him.
Well, he's not one that you can miss. He draws attention to himself, Teddy."
Teddy listened as his father described a friend to him.
"Some people would call it presence, but it was something more than that. It was a rawness to it. He would make himself known and I think the wings were extension of that. They made him bigger, definitely hard to miss. He liked drawing attention to himself, but he liked for people to know that he was there waiting unafraid and ready to go into battle. It was who he was it was his nature and it was something that would never change the day that Carter Hall backed down from a fight was the day the world begins turning in the other direction."
Target acquired. He was being told to run and well if it was any other day Teddy might to keep up the pretense, but this wasn't any other day.
The club connected with the face of the mummy but even as it was bashed it stood it's ground.
"They quite durable." Teddy stated while he reached into his satchel while moving from a mummy that wanted to show him the sharp end of the axe.
Options. He was considering them while people were moving out of the building away from everything as Kalvin was being a little beacon to the Sons of Anubis. Kalvin was far from being that person that was all into the mysticism and what not, but what he lacked in that department he more made up for in the technical end.
"Cover your eyes." He said while got a set of goggles that had a bit of a bug look to them. He removed from the satchel.
"NOW!" He didn't give him too much longer to do it as removed a gun from the bag and fired it pointing it up and there was a bright flash throughout the entire library.
KALVIN: It stood its.. ground. Well, this was great.
Kal didn't have a clue what was going on, or why he was being told to cover his eyes. Before he could shoot the gun off, he decided to make some room as he caught an axe just under the blade and held it up as it inched towards his face. Finding the strength, he'd deflect it, then raise his large foot up and litterally booted it back as far as he could. When he said to cover his eye, he'd do so just as the bright flash went off.
The sounds of the river Niles would gently echo in his stonewalled room. He wasn't a pharaoh, but he lived as if one. Being the head of the Royal Guard gave you a lot of advantages. Especially in the living conditions. Standing out on a sandstone colored porch, the winds ruffling the cotton curtains softly. There'd be a young lady who would climb out of bed and move up behind him. Sliding her arms around his waist and up his body as she kissed his back before resting her cheek against it.
The man smiled placing his hands on hers. She whispers something, and the man whispers it back. But it's too faint to hear. The feeling though.. it was one of love. Something so pure and powerful that it lasted it seemed. A smile on his lips as he turned around the woman pressing her body against his as she leaned up for a soft kiss. The wind fluttering her hair a bit. The words are becoming clearer… but he doesn't understand them.
When the flash ends, he looks around as if he was lost for just a moment. The light was bright, and he stood there rubbing at his eyes for a moment. "What the hell did you do to me?!" asking as he strained to see. If Teddy wasn't quick with an answer or some kind of method to cure his temporary blindness, He just might end up on the wrong side of the makeshift club.
TEDDY: It wasn't like it was the first time he had field tested the gun it was just at a higher setting than expected. The bright flash lasted a second, but everyone that was caught in the blast radius that hadn't covered their eyes properly or wearing protective goggles like Teddy had would be temporarily blinded.
"Shoosh. You'll be ok." The mummies were stunned too unable to see, but Kalvin carrying on like that wasn't helping. "To your right." He said pushing Kalvin a bit while his thumb moved the setting on the gun and he fired several shots.
The compressed air shot out knocking into each of the nearby mummies. They would hit the ground, but as it wans't a bullet or anything like that or something that would do any real damage they would bounce back up.
"A little over a minute and you'll be ok." He said as a crashing sound was heard from above, sky light.
"I LOVE YOU!" Teddy called out into the air while the sound of something tickling came down towards the two.
"Hold onto me and whatever you do, don't let go." He said while pulling Kalvin to him. "Now if you want to do the damsel in distress yell I won't think less of you just don't let go. Ok?"
He wrapped his arm around Kalvin and pull him close.
"Bring us in, Babe!"
KALVIN: Grumbling as Teddy grabbed him "Wh-What are you doing?!" asking as he Teddy went on his little retort. Kal would simply snort. "I don't yell, and I'm hardly a damsel. Who the hell are you?!" asking as he waited for Teddy to do … whatever it was that he was going to do. Whoever this 'babe' was, it must be something up above the library. As his vision started to slowly to come back. Looking over at Teddy, he'd give him a strange look, then glance to the mummies as they started to also come out of their little trance. "If you have a plan to kill these things, then you better make it quick or let me fight and kill them!"
TEDDY: There was a moment then there was a jerk upwards and they were pulled up towards the skylight. Teddy was more focused on the mummies below. They couldn't fly and they had someone they were looking for and that person was currently being wheeled away.
"I'm pretty sure you could held your own but their sheer numbers would have eventually overwhelmed you. They'll back off for now and whoever sent them in will rethink it now that they know that you're not alone." He explained while they continued to be reeled in.
If Kalvin's vision cleared up enough he would see them heading towards something hovering over the skylight pulling them into a giant opening. Once they were inside the bottom slid close and Teddy let go of him.
"Thanks, Bug." He told the craft while he let his satchel slip from his shoulder and he moved towards the controls at the front of the craft which was quite large probably the size of a car ok perhaps bigger than a car.
"Active the cloaking field and move us out, please." He pressed a few buttons on the control panel as the craft began to move. It was like stepping into a comic book. The ship looked like something straight out of the movie as they flew away from the library to take a position not to far from the library.
"Theodore Kord II. Friends call me Teddy." He was working at the panel.
"And it seems like someone ordered the...really...ok. I'm totally being serious here, but someone ordered the Sons of Anubis to take you out."
KALVIN: Looking around, then up as they moved into a giant vehicle of some sort. He was… well, stunned. Glancing around as he moved towards the cockpit as he looked out the window, seeing the city below them as he frowned listening to Teddy. He'd shake his head. "I'm Kalvin Halloway… Um, Friends call me Kal." saying as he turned to face Teddy. This was so out of his realm. It was slightly crazy. "If they're after me, you can bet they're going to go after my girlfriend, Aislin." stating as he glanced towards the window again. "Sons of Anubis. More undead, great. We need to find Aislin and bring her up here. I think she's working on set today."
Sighing.
"Don't suppose you have any answers on what the hell is going on, do you? Just the other day this weird fog rolled in and skeletons appeared dressed in Egyptian armor and weapons." licking his lips. "We were able to take care of them." Glancing at Teddy now, he'd stare at him for a long moment. As if he was trying to place him somewhere.
"…Do I know you? Your name sounds… familiar? I don't know why though."
TEDDY: Teddy was seeing what information that he had on the Sons of Anubis still wondering about that name. It was suspect, but far be it for him to doubt that's what they were known by. He was going to have to go over this, but there would be time enough for that.
"I need to do a little more research, but from what I have here it looks like they can be controlled. I'm thinking whoever set you on them tracked you down like I had." He moved away from the panel arching his brow.
"Girlfriend, Aislin. It's not ringing any bells here, Kal. I only got information about getting to you and making sure that you didn't get yourself killed." He stopped himself from smirking, because that's exactly what was going to happen.
"I'm pretty sure I should deviate from the plan here, but then again deviation doesn't hurt that much." He moved to the pilot's chair and began looking over the various sensor panels. The Bug didn't make any noise and they were low enough that they wouldn't get hit by a plane and a course correction would be made just in case of birds. The propulsion was silent which made it perfect for this type of work.
Reaching for his bag he pulled out his cellphone. "I may or may not have answers. It all depends on if you're ready to here them." Skeletons. Mummies. What next sand monsters?
"Ever think about why you were able to take care of them? I mean most people kind of go the other way when they find themselves in that type of situation." He removed another item from his satchel. It was a small package but it was meant for Kalvin.
"This was meant for you. I know glorified delivery boy. Federal Express wish they had it this good." He passed the package to Kalvin.
"Which studio does she work at?" He asked keeping track of the multiple topics while he keyed a few things into a control panel.
"Teddy! Where the hell are you at!" the voice came through the intercom.
"Well, see what had happen was I was in the library scoping out this cute guy and I thought I would take him out to lunch. Took a little Teddy charm, but I got him to come along. Left there and we're well, I'm having a nice time what's up?"
Wade sounded like he was going to flip his shit, but calmed down quickly.
"You're not at the library," he questioned while Teddy pressed his finger to his lips so Kalving wouldn't say anything.
"No, way. You know me. Hot guy. Sucker for all that. I'm ok. Seriously don't wig out on me. I promise I'll go and no I won't get into trouble. Honest. I'll probably be an hour..ok maybe two but three to be on the safe side. If you don't hear from in three give me a call and I promise you can read me the riot act then ok? Bye!"
With a press of a button he turned the chair to look at Kalvin if he opened the package he would have found a coin in it just like Teddy had received. It would have the same stylized image of an eagle on the face of one side.
KALVIN: "She's working I think off of St Vista Street and 23rd. She's like me." telling him as he nodded, then took the package, unwrapped it and looked over the coin. A flood of memories came rushing into him. To Teddy, it looked like he just zoned out completely. Like if he was in shock. But it was obvious that he wasn't, his eyes were darting around. He remembers a giant silver table. People sitting around it. Some … kind of society?
"I recognize the emblem." telling Teddy as he placed a hand against his head. "It was a table, Silver. Cracked on one side." he nodded, lifting a brow as he pursed his lips. "And yes, I've been wondering. But I don't know the why yet. I have these… strange memories, visions, whatever you want to call them. And it's not making any sense. I feel like this isn't my first go around at being alive thing. That I feel… a hell of a lot older than 23." sighing as he shook his head.
"I'll give her a call, Just… don't break anything. Her director is sort of a control freak." he wouldn't expand on that further. Pulling his phone out, he'd dial her number.
"Hey. Can you meet me outside…" trailing off for a moment then looking at Teddy. "Somewhere a little secluded. Me and my new ….. friend, are going to pick you up. I know it sounds weird, but I'll explain to you when you come up here." giving a nod, he smiles. "Love you to, bye."
Looking to Teddy. "She's like me in the way that I don't run from a fight when I should be. We fight like we've been fighting together all our lives. But we haven't really found out why though. I have a feeling you know a little more than you’re letting on."
TEDDY: "Alright. Bug make a course correction to St. Vista Street and 23rd." The Bug made the course correction which earned her a smile while Teddy listened to what Kal zoned out. He really didn't know what was going to happen when he retrieved the item in the package which was a similar coin. He almost wanted to fish his out and wave it around and tell him he had one two, but Teddy had the benefit of his father sharing information with him. He told him what he needed to know and where he could acquire additional information.
He kept silent when Kal came out of the trance and glanced over towards the man as he described what he saw. "Perhaps you have an old soul." Was Teddy being coy most definitely, but eh didn't want it to be too much too soon, but with the attacks that occurred it would only be a matter of time before Kal learned what was happening. If he wasn't told it might be too late.
The more Kal spoke about his girlfriend and what they had experienced or were experiencing the more it began to make sense.
"I'm flying around in a large bug with goggles over my eyes. I'm pretty sure I know something but probably not everything you would want me to know. I will say this that what you're experiencing is happening for a reason and that it is a part of who you are. It's also why the undead has started to take an interest in you. What's happening they don't want to happen."

Blowout at St. Roch Studios
STORYTELLER: While interesting things are happening at the University across town at St. Roch Studios the film crew is coming back from break after the director went on a bit of a tirade about his blocking not being followed to the letter. Unfortunately while the actors had to sit an listen while they reblocked the scene quickly the crew sat around listen to the local station before they were called in.
"This Chris Carter with the Noon Time Crew getting you through the day. Just a few things going on in St. Roch tonight. Lexi Frank is in town doing a set at Bluebells and there's the a performance going on at the University that's brought a couple of people to town even Theodore Kord II. Rumor is that he's thinking of partnering with some of the local business to help with the production of some of his companies latest tablet computers. Could be good business if the chamber of commerce plays their cards right.
Of course it seems that Teddy as his friends call him came alone so it's possible that they could woo him if they speak with the right people. If you know what I mean. It's not a secret, but trust me show him what St. Roch has to offer and we can continue the recent resurgence that St. Roch has in the last few years.
So tell me people what's on your mind? Do you think Kord will bring his business...
The broadcast was stopped with a slap of a hand. The director was ready to get back to work.
"Haul it in everyone. We're ready to shoot this scene and can someone for the love of Christ find Aislinn Kelly!"
Production assistant Danny was already on it heading out to find Aislinn to let her know that they were ready. She was the only one that had been excused from the blocking because she was hitting her marks and also it had to deal with when she made her entrance so she was good to go. Consummate professional they said except with her knuckle dragger boyfriend wasn't beating up on the crew. Though some felt the director could be taken down a notch or two.
"Come on if we get this going we might be able to break early today. Let's go people!" AISLIN: Kal was not allowed back on set. Ever. Again. Between punching out the stuntman and then the skeleton attack the other day? Well, the director had decided that both incidents and the setbacks caused by them were Kal's fault. Everything was going smoothly until Kal had crashed the set that one night. Since then, well, not so well. Hopefully, though, we can get things back on track here, get the movie rolling and no more strange things will happen.
It's hard not to let my mind drift while going through another read through of the script and run through the scene in my head again while things were being reblocked. I think about Kal and everything we'd talked about. The memories, how strong we felt for each other and how strange, yet not so strange, it all is. Every so often there's a glimpse of another time, memories weaving in and out, sometimes almost blending with reality. It's almost as if they want me to figure something out, I just..don't know what that thing could be.
I'm not hard to find and it's not long before Production assistant Danny does indeed find me and lets me know that they're ready for me on set. It breaks me out of my current day dream and I shake my head a little to bring me back to reality of sorts. I offer a bit of a smile. "Thanks..on my way.."
I take a final few sips of the water I was drinking and make my way over towards the set. People come up to touch up hair and make up. Once I'm there, we're given a final run down before being instructed to get into our places to shoot the scene.
STORYTELLER: Danny wasn't the only one that was looking for Aislin. There was someone searching for her that needed to find her. They needed to talk to her because she was needed they were all needed. However, it seemed that she was a hot commodity at the moment. Unfortunately for Aisln and perhaps everyone on set the person that was searching for her was not the first one to find her not even Danny had found her first.
However it was all about the time and also there were a few words that needed to be shared. The man appeared dressed as one of the crew he was brought in for the day at at least that's what he told people. He chatted them up and heard that interesting things had been occurring on the set, skeletons. Interesting he wondered who had taken an interest in the people here. Perhaps it was just another phantom from the past that decided to haunt two of the oldest souls in St. Roch.
While the mysterious crew worker thought upon that Danny was already on his way back as people were getting up. It was going to be a typical day on the set at least that's what everyone was hoping for.
"Alright people I want a clean scene everyone. Three takes at the most. Quiet on the set." The director was about to take his seat when he was told that the sound guy was running a little late from lunch.
"Lunch! Who told him to go to lunch. I told everyone fifteen!" Even though it took thirty it wasn't a lease for someone to run off set. "That's what we have the caterers for! When he gets back tell him that he's..."
"Can't fire him. Union and everything." The director was gnashing his teeth at that one.
"Let's ...get the other guy. We can start without him." He shook his head walking over towards his seat again he hadn't realized that he had began stalking over towards Danny who had been the bearer of bad news.
"Alright let's get this started. Everyone take your places. Remember your marks and don't screw up the blocking." He took his seat and took a deep breath.
"Quiet on the set!" If they didn't hear the first time they certainly heard him that time.
"And Action!" He called out.
Almost seconds after saying the words there was a pop followed by a crackle and several of the overhead lights went out bursting almost and then set of lights crashing down setting sparks off all over the place.
"What the hell is this!" The director hopped to his feet! "I thought I was working with professionals! God Damn...." He couldn't get the words out because the next thing that hit the ground of the set was the headless body of a rather larger man.
Stan the sound man had never made it off the set.
AISLIN: I'm in my spot, chatting a bit with the other actors in the scene while all the other particulars get sorted out. We glance over at the director for a moment when he makes a hoopla about the sound man not being back yet. A few of us roll our eyes, but we understand as well. Think we're all a bit ready to get this going, so when the smallest delay happens, we all feel it. When it looks like things are getting settled and ready to roll, we settle in to our characters and what not.
Then Action! is called out.
We start the scene but don't get far into it when we're interrupted by that pop followed by a crackle. "Geeeezus..." We all stop. I look up and over in the direction of the sounds to see the overhead lights go out and then crash down. It may not be close but still, I take a step back. People scream, gasp, ohh and ahh as the lights come down. Some dash for cover. As I step back, I dunno, my muscles tense a bit and I look around for a moment. See if I can find the cause or, who knows, maybe it was just a freak accident.
I dunno, with the way things have been lately..I'd welcome a freak accident, but somehow, I don't think this is one.
Then the body comes. More screams echo throughout the set. A gasp escapes my lips and I frown. Even without the head, I can recognize who it was. After all, Stan had his own style. Stan was a decent person. Always ready with some corny joke. While most people seem to be moving away from the body, I take a few steps towards it. I know I should probably run the other way, but, I dunno..
Approaching the body, I look down at it for a moment before looking up towards where the lights were and then around.
STORYTELLER: The Sons of Anubis were warriors in their own right. They had been taken from this world and spared the next called upon to fight whoever commanded them. Once upon a time a Lord of Chaos wielded them as one might wield a sword. They were set upon his enemies to retrieve items that he desired or dispatch with those that would stand in his way. Today the fight for another who would not see the two spirits soar again. Impossible to kill they can be delayed and he sought to delay them dispatching two of his servants to prevent them from recalling their lives all of them. Once they knew it would be impossible to stop what came next though they could be killed it would make things more difficult if they became aware of who and what they were so this meant that it should be done now before it all came full circle.
One would wonder why it had not be done before, but it couldn't be done when they were younger as they had not begun to recall who they were in lives long passed. They were simply the people they were today not the heroes and warriors of yesterday. Their secrets locked away in their souls lost to the sands of time until the time was right. While all had not come to pass enough information had begun to reach the surface that it lit them up like beacons not only revealing their paths before them but lighting the paths for their enemies to find them.
Heroes had been bleed from the world before and they would not return. It would not happen not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever if those in power had their way.
In this studio an actress was singled out for death by an unknown individual for the mere fact that she lived and she began to remember. Warrior blood ran through her veins and like he beloved she was ready to stand her ground with only a metal pipe in her hand. Whatever weapon they could scavenge would be used to defend themselves and bring harm to their enemies. It was what they did.
The five mummies charge no one else did a thing fearing what might happen and those that might try to move found themselves being pulled to the ground by those that rose up through the Earth.
Defiant she cried out even as the axes came at her one after the other and if she was not quick enough they were cut into her skin.
The one that spoke waited to see her bleed he wanted to witness her death. No the winged one would not be reborn she would be lost to the mists of time again not because it was too soon, but because it was deemed not to be. Darkness shall rule these lands and no matter how far they go the Hawk warriors would be hunted.
Keep them apart take them one at time the order had been given. However if there was one thing that should be known no matter where or no matter when they were never alone which could be seen as one production assistant Danny rushed out to knock into one of the Sons of Anubis to take him to the ground.
The world had enough of the darkness or had it as the young assistant cried out as he was run through with the axe.
"The next person that moves will lose their heads. Now let's watch as your young heroine fights here way through the hordes. Can she survive? Will she take a few out before she succumbs to their numbers. This is your moment Ms. Kelly no longer the ingenue. You don't back down you fight you fight even if it means your death."
The voice was all around even as the chaos broke at the mummies attack.
"Cut her apart!" Most horrifying of all was that the camera was rolling. Perhaps not the starring role that Aislin dreamed of but it was the one that had been handed to her.
AISLIN: I should run. Just turn and run. This isn't a movie. No, it's real. Very, very real. This isn't a choreographed fight scene where every move is scripted. Those axes are real with very real and very sharp blades. They're not the nice fake ones that won't kill you if you miss a mark or fail to duck when you should duck. No, these would slice me right through if they hit.
They swing their axes and I jump back away from them, feeling the breeze they create as they miss me by a narrow margin. For now, I'm on the defensive. Dodging and ducking to keep avoiding the axes that are being swung. Occasionally, the metal pipe comes up to block an oncoming swing, the sound of the axe against the pipe causing a resounding claaaaaaang! across the set. The more I move, the more I fight the more this metal pipe feels like an extension of my arm. There are moments, when weapons clash against each other, that I get flashes of different battles. Battles from the past. Some as far back as Ancient Egypt. Others, not quite as distant.
My shirt and jeans are getting sliced from the near misses. Some of the axe swings do make their cuts, and they sting, but nothing serious as I'm quick enough to avoid any major damage, at least for now. As I block another axe swing and push it away from me,I catch movement in my peripherals. Danny's made a move to knock one of the Sons of Anubis down...
..and is run through as a reward for his efforts...
That..angers me.
My jaw sets and my eyes narrow. He was innocent. There was no need for him to take that blow, but he acted out of bravery. Out of some sort of feeling that he needed to help me. To save me. My gaze shifts to the five. There's this feeling surging within me though. Adrenaline pumps through my veins and it steels my nerves. There was an evil here and it needed to be destroyed. The innocent people here needed to be protected. It's a strange feeling, something only felt when I played those types of characters. With a yell, my movements switch from defensive to more offensive. I'm pressing the attack, hoping to find an opening to where I can disarm one of them and grab an axe to even the playing field somewhat.
STORYTELLER: Danny is down and out bleeding upon the floor while he listened to the sounds of his own breathing. He could hear the commotion above him, but he couldn’t tell what was happening. All he knew is that he did what he felt was right.
Aislin on the other hand had her hands full with the five warriors that were attempting to cut her down. Her make shift weapon held up against the blows but the Sons of Anubis were quick and were ready to look for an opening.
However they gave her an opening at the same time. While the others drew back to strike again another moved forward bringing the axe down to catch her at the shoulder, but it was met by the pipe getting caught upon it.
If she maneuvered herself properly she could wrest the ax from him, but there was a scream from the darkness as several of the actors and actresses were pushed out by two of the mummies. With another movement they were on the floor with the axes trained on them ready to strike. “Oh what will our heroine do? Will she let her anger and rage turn her into a killing machine sacrificing her cast mates or will she do the right thing and save them? All we want is you Ms. Kelly. Still yourself and it will end. Still yourself and they will go free.”
“Still yourself…”
The words were cut off by a strangle yell from one of the mummies it fell to its knees while it clawed at its throat while it attempted to remove the hilt of a blade that had lodged itself there.
The other mummy began to raise its axe but another blade was launched out of the darkness striking it directly in its eye followed by another one blinding the creature.
TROY: There were only moments, not seconds moments to act. He didn’t think twice about what had to be done. His aim was sure as it had always been. His god father would be disappointed at anything less. He was dressed in a hooded cloak that had concealed him in the shadows. He had arrived on the studio some time ago had gotten involved with a tour group.
Slipping away from it he had made his way to the sound stage in question.
He was moving across the catwalk where he could get to a better angle while he removed what he needed from his pack.
The mummies were stunned for a moment at the presence of another and he meant to use that to his advantage.
“AISLIN!” It was all the warning she got as something was hurled towards her if she caught the item the handle would feel familiar as would the wait. The long rod extended to the head of the item a spiked sphere that was hungry, hungry for battle.
AISLIN: I'm in the process of wrestling the ax from, twisting in a way where enough pressure would be put on the ax to force it from his hands so that I can have it. Just as the ax comes free and I grab it, the mummies make their move and make this whole situation more dire than what it was before. I pause a moment, looking around as the mummies force my coworkers, colleagues and even friends down to the ground. Axes up and ready to strike.
It's enough to make me pause for a moment. I could keep fighting, but, if I fight more then they'll die. Then again, there's nothing saying that they won't die anyway. How can I trust that this ominous voice will let them all go should I surrender? I can't trust that.
I do know though, if I keep fighting, they'll die. I let out a bit of a breath. I don't like this feeling that I feel. A feeling of, helplessness? No. That's not it, exactly. It's just..being stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, I keep fighting and they'll die. On the other, if I stop, then I'll die. I'm not quite ready to do that yet. Not when things seemed to have taken a turn for the better. I just found Kal. I feel I'm closer to answering the riddle of these memories.
"Strike me down and I'll return stronger..." I state, not fully understanding why those words come, but it's a feeling that comes from within. That death's not as final for me as it is for others. I adjust the grip on my axe for a moment before I start to lower it down to my side. As I do, I hear my name yelled out.
It's not a familiar voice, but I don't questions as I turn in the direction it's being yelled from. I don't see anyone, but do see the item thrown in my direction. Reaching out, I take hold of the handle and as my fingers wrap around it, something clicks. An image comes to my mind. There I stand, or someone I believe is me. Wings unfurled. Mace held back and ready to strike. The very same mace I hold now. I've never held a mace before. Never swung one, but somehow, I know this mace and I know what it can do and what I can do with it. A smirk comes to my lips as my grip adjusts on the mace.
There will be no surrender. Not today.
I swing the mace at the disarmed Son first before bringing it down on the other four that surround me. Looking to take them down first. Trying to make quick work of them so I can find who's controlling them and bring an end to this. Things are changing within me. I feel, stronger. The cuts I suffered are slowly starting to heal.
TROY: With the mace in her hand there should be some recognition for Aislin Kelly. She is no mere actress. She is no mere woman. She is the flesh bound spirit of a great warrior older than most. In another hands the mace would be useless piece of metal that would perhaps cause more problems than solve but in her hands it was a very lethal weapon. She knows it like she knows the back of hand perhaps even better.
Like breathing the knowledge would fill her mind and it would not be alien or terrifying. It would familiar perhaps far more comforting than anything else in the world at the moment. No she would not run she would stand against those that threatened not only her but her friends and coworkers. They intruded upon her but in the process of doing so they unlocked her soul.
One breath drawn before she was merely Aislin the next she would realize that she was so much more.
"KILL THE INTERLOPER!"
That would be the cloaked figure of Troy Stephens who was already vaulting over the railing of the catwalk to land from the height like it was nothing not break in his movement he moved with superior speed and agility to reach the door nearest the innocents in this forced drama. With a simple movement the door was knocked from it's hinges and though he was being advanced upon by one of the mummies he did not turn not until the axe was drawn up and then down he turned catching the axe at the neck while he brought his foot up and struck the mummy dead center in the chest sending it flying across the sound stage.
The axe fell to the floor while eyes from beneath his cloak looked towards the other mummies that began to move forth a dozen perhaps began to move towards him and Aislin. It seemed that the five well four and three, two and then none were overwhelmed by the woman that had simply come in to play a part and was beginning to remember of destiny. Her life her true one.
The one who set this in motion feared what was happening before his eyes. She was remembering not only was she remembering she was embracing. The mace had been placed in her hand it there was no denying that he had the right person but now it would be difficult to undo what had been done. Yes she would return but it would take time but now she was more aware than she was before.
He would make his escape while he sacrificed the soldiers. He would see blood he would see the blood of the inteloper they would do away with him or so he thought.
Troy was primed and ready for a fight.
"Get the boy out." He told the bystanders. Danny had been braved, but ill equipped to deal with such things.
"We will destroy you," the mummies hissed at them both even as Troy guarded the escape of the bystanders.
"We will send you back through the Western Gate to the lands where you belong." His voice was deep but it was steady and certain and the blade he had in his hand was finely crafted weapon. One that he had used more times than he would have liked but peace is not always won through words sometimes there had to be battle.
AISLIN: The longer I hold onto the mace, the more the memories come. The more clear things are to me. It's not frightening or overwhelming because there's an understanding that comes with them. A completeness of sorts. All of this would've scared me before. It would've been too much. Too overwhelming, but now? It's not. This, this is who I am. My soul, is an old one, but a strong one. That of a warrior. Someone I'm supposed to be. No, not supposed to be. It's who I am.
It makes me wonder, a little, if something like this is meant for Kal as well. We are connected somehow. If this is happening to me, will it happen to him as well? How will we handle that? Do I have all the answers? No. Will there be more questions after all of this? Probably. But those will have to wait. There are more important matters at hand.
The movements come easy to me. Like hopping back onto that bike. There's a hidden grace there as I move from target to target, cutting down the mummies that surround me. I catch the glimpse of movement as the interloper enters the fray. He must've been the one who threw me my mace. I make a mental note to thank him later.
An axe swings down in my direction. The neck of it meets the handle of my mace, right below the spiked sphere. Lips curve into a smirk and eyes narrow as I pivot slightly, pushing the axe away from me, then swing the mace so it connects with the midsection of the mummy, sending it flying away. I'm working my way towards the interloper, clearing a path for bystandards to make their way through the door that he's opened. Their escape route.
There's no more mocking voice ringing through the sound system. No one taunting me. Putting me in the spotlight and making ultimatums. Has the leader fled? Leaving his soldiers to pay the ultimate price? If so, then the soldiers left behind may not be as strong. May not fight as orderly. Doesn't make them any less dangerous.
"How do we get rid of these things?" I ask as I get closer to Troy. While the battle is thrilling and there's a sense of enjoyment I'm getting from the fight, I'd rather not keep these people in danger much longer.
TROY: Troy moved faster than they anticipated parrying the strikes that were sent his away. there was no wild or simplistic slashing through the air there were deft moves by the sword in his hand. Sometimes even a pommel strike or two to know them back, but there were thrusts. Thrusts meant to injure and slow them down.
They were dead and they had been drawn through the Western Gate they had no place here and he meant to remind them of that. The one that controlled them was fleeing he knew it because the man's voice had not been heard since he ordered them to cut Troy down.
Every now and then Troy would bring his free hand up to block the strike of an axe using his wrist to do so when it happen it struck a cuff, but there was a resounding ring when it happened. It happened several times before it stopped and one of the mummies stopped.
His hood had not fallen back, but Troy stood his ground looking across at them hearing Aislin's question.
"The source has fled they will follow. They will have to decide if this battle is worth unending torment."
He wasn't winded he wasn't breathing hard, but he stood his ground while he stared down the mummies that could stand.
"Take them and go if you value what you have. If not we can continue until there is nothing left for you to gather." He warned them.
The mummy that had struck the metal cuff around his wrist stared at it then towards Troy.
They had one chance to decide and instead of advancing the decided to retreat the others confused until one of the mummies spoke in ancient Egyptian saying one word.
<i>"Themysciran."</i>a
TROY: Hearing it spoken in ancient Egyptian isn't new for Troy he's heard it before, but he also understands the context. The cuffs did more damage to the blade of the axe then the other way around. Sheathing his sword he watched them go because that would be the end of it...for now.
It was easy to go from battle to out of battle for him. He had been trained. It didn't mean that his blood wan't rushing through his veins. His heart was pounding the feel of exhilaration was all the same. Sometimes you had to know when to press the battle and when to break it off. Right now it needed to end because eventually other people would come and there would be questions. Questions that neither of them needed to answer.
The less the rest of the world knew at the moment the better.
He felt too much was known already from what the mummy said. "He was a Son of Anubis. Group of undead warriors pledged to follow a Lord of Chaos. Pledged or controlled, but it was not a Lord of Chaos that drove them to do what they did here."
He drew his hood down to look upon Aislin. "The cuffs. They are of Themysciran design," he explained. "And the Sons of Anubis know they are only worn by those who are Themysciran."
"Time is short, Aislinn. I wish I could share more, but that was not my task. My task was to aid you and to provide you with what you needed." He motioned to the mace and then moved to remove an item from a pouch. He produced a coin it was identical to the one that Teddy Kord was giving to Kalvin Halloway. It was blank on one side, but on one face it held a stylized eagle upon it.
"What you see are not dreams. There are not tricks of the mind. They are memories. memories of lives that were and were not your own. Your soul sings to you and if you are to survive what comes next you must listen to the song they sing to you."
He offered her the coin.
"The Sons of Anubis and their keeper were here to stop you from recalling who you are. They were here to prevent you from bring the past into the present. Their keepers fear what it means. They fear what you and Kalvin remember. They fear the light. They fear the light that we will bring into the world."
AISLIN: I listen, and to be honest, a lot of what he says sounds like a plot out of a movie. All of this seems like some crazy plot out of a movie. Sons of Anubis. Lord of Chaos. Themysciran cuffs that deflect blows from sharp axes. I know it's not, though. I know that over the past few days and even more so today, I've had my eyes opened to a whole other aspect of reality. One, that I'm not sure I'm ready to know quite yet, no matter how familiar all this knew knowledge is to me. The thoughts of what I'm supposed to do, or what I'm destined to do, well, I'm not sure I'm quite ready for all of that yet. Though, from the way Troy speaks, I may not have the chance to ready myself to be this force of light that the looming darkness fears.
For a moment, I wonder what Kal knows. He had called before all of this happened and said some crazy thing about meeting him and he'd explain when we were up there? I don't remember exactly. The current events have fogged that over a little bit.
"Well, thanks for the assist.." I nod a little, looking over at my mace for a moment. I haven't let it go since it's been given to me, nor do I plan to. At least not at the moment. It's unlocked so much for me already. I wonder what else, what other secrets it'll show me. "Don't know how well I'd of done with just that pipe. Though, I do wonder, how did you know I was here?" I ask then realize that may be an easy one. "How did you know that this.." I hold up the mace a little. "..belongs to me?"
And there are a slew of other questions, but he said time was short. "And who are you, exactly?" I don't know if he'll even answer those, but I figured I'd ask anyhow. If he doesn't answer them, well, perhaps whoever Kal's with may have some answers.
He tells me that what I'm seeing are not dreams. They're memories of..past lives..or so it seems as much. It makes sense to an extent and I'm not looking at him like he's crazy. Just, almost as if his words are giving me a bit more clarification. Clarification that I've been looking for for a while now. Good to know that I'm not going crazy. Pressing my lips together lightly, I glance down at the coin he offers then back up at him as I take the coin. I look at both sides. One side is blank, the other has the stylized eagle on it.
"So..all of this will happen again.." It's more of a statement than a question. For a long time I've been trying to suppress the memories. To not let them come. To ignore them mostly out of fear. Fear of what they meant. Fear that I was going crazy. Now, now I'm being told to embrace them. "They'll probably keep attacking and trying to stop us."
I let out a soft sigh. It may all feel right, destined and familiar, but that doesn't mean it's still not a bit freaky and scary to think about. There's a part of me that wants to ask him who exactly it is that I am? What is it that I'm seeing and remembering? But, I feel like that's a journey I need to make on my own, with Kal.
"I need to talk to Kal." I nod a little. "He needs to know.."
TROY: "You're welcome," he said with a nod while surveying the damage that had been done. Walking over towards the camera which had been going he opened the film compartment to expose it and destroy it while Aislin took in everything that he said.
"The pipe would have eventually you failed you. Not durable enough. The mace is a proper tool. Also I was merely delivering it to it's rightful owner." It was all a simple explanation actually.
"The coin pointed me in the direction that I needed to go. It was meant for you. I was meant to locate you and deliver the coin to you. It is a marker. The more you remember the more you'll understand what the coin means." After he was done with the film Troy turned towards her and smiled.
"Tell me how does it feel in your hands? Does it not belong there or does it feel like an extension of who you are? During the fight you didn't shy away from using it. In fact you felt and looked quite comfortable with it. It is not a thing or just a tool. It is something you are familiar with. You know how to use it as easily as you know how to breathe, Aislin. I knew that you needed it because I knew that it needed you."
Simple as that. Well, as far as the mace goes.
"To quote a television show from the early part of the century, all of this has happened before and it will happen again. It is not important about it happening again, your focus should be on the now and what you will do now that you know that this isn't a dream that this is real. You will have a choice to make to be the warrior that you are or to cloak yourself in the reality that you once wish to pursue. The path of the warrior is not an easy one because these are dark times. Times when heroes are still hunted and are scattered to the wind, but the wind is shifting and light is nearly upon us. The Gathering has started whether by happenstance or design it has begun and there will be those that will try to stop it, because it will change everything."
There was a pause for a second while thought upon it. "It will change everything and there are many people who will not want it to change, because the world as it is is the way they like it."
Everyone would have a lot to work to do, but it all began with a choice. A choice to accept what you could be or be content with who you were.
"I imagine that there will be much for you to discuss. I think if there is to be words between the two of you that it should begin here..." He offed something else fromt he pouch it was a key and a code along with a brochure to the Stonechat Museum. Inside there would be a section of it circled, two actually.
"I am merely the messenger. There are some things I know and others I do not."
AISLIN: "I see..." I glance down at the coin again and let out a little hrmph, fingers lightly tracing over the eagle that's there. This simple thing pointed him in the direction he needed to go. It'd be easy to dismiss it all to crazy talk. I know it's not though. This, this is quite a lot of detail to put into something that's not real. I close my fingers around the coin. It all feels like a path I should be on. One that I've walked before. Just, need to retrace the steps so to speak.
"The mace?" I hold it out in front of me, rotating my wrist a bit to get a better look at it. Now that I'm not weilding it and knocking down mummies with it, I can get a better look at the mace. Seeing the detail on it. A small smile comes to my lips. This is my mace. "It feels like it belongs here, in my hands. It's my mace. I know that. I've never weilded a mace before but I knew how to use this." I nod a little. "Like you said, as easily as I know how to breathe."
I twirl the mace a little in my hands a little, still listening to Troy as he speaks. He's right, I'm going to have to make a choice. Do I embrace the memories? Become what they're showing me I'm meant to be or do I shy away from them and hide? Hiding won't be an easy thing to do, all things considering. Somehow, even if I chose to not embrace the warrior, I have a feeling I'd still be visited by skeletons, Sons of Anubis or whatever other army that's sent after me to ensure that I don't recall or become the warrior I've been before.
Though, this is a choice I can't make by myself. It wouldn't be fair to Kal. If I chose the path of a warrior, he'd could be put in danger if he didn't.
"Changing everything is an understatement, especially if this Gathering you're talking about is what I think it is." Just based off of what he's said so far, it seems as if someone's trying to gather a new group of 'heroes'. People who would be willing to fight the good fight. To usher forth this wind of change. I shrug lightly. Life's already changed a lot and it's only been a few days. My whole life is going to change if I keep following this path. That much is pretty obvious. Things like what happened today won't seem so out of place. Am I ready for that? I don't know. I may not be, but, I dunno..I feel like it's something that I have to do. That I'm meant to do.
It makes sense, what Troy says. Things will change and people won't like that change. "Means there will always be opposition." I sigh, running my free hand through my hair. "No one ever said change would be easy. But..the world needs to change.."
It's a loaded statement. So many things need to change not only for me but in life in general. I let out a long, slow breath, just mulling over a few things in my mind. Letting things sink in so I can start processing and making sense of things. He hands me a key, a code and a brochure to the Stonechat Museum. Looking at the brocure, I arch a brow. Kal may be familiar with it. I don't know much about museums. I nod a little before looking back up at Troy.
"Thanks. We'll check it out." I nod again. "I can imagine your job isn't an easy one. I don't envy it." I offer a little bit of a smile before looking around a bit at the studio. There will be a lot to explain here. I'm sure I'll have an angry director in my face at some point and people asking so many questions.
"Probably shouldn't stick around here much longer." I glance back at Troy. He said his time was short. "Is there..any way I could reach you? If I needed?"
TROY: Troy could see that she was becoming more comfortable with the mace and with what he was telling her. It was enough it was all he could do for now. There was more for him to see and also for him to do.
"I simply do what was asked of me. It allows me to see more of the world and understand why what we will be doing is important." It was all different for him in a way he had not been away from his home ever in his life, but change was happening for everyone.
"Anything worth doing has it's difficulties, but it just makes moments like this that much better. However you're right I should be going. As for reaching me. Difficult to say, but I suspect that if you are in need of aid or vice versus that we will find one another."
"Be well, Aislin Kelly." He wished he could say that he hoped her journey would be free of incident, but would be a poor choice of words. He gave her a nod and left the sound stage if she followed out he would already be gone almost like he disappeared. As they both suspected the authorities were arriving on scene ready to block it off and also meet the assailants.
There would be questions to asks and Aislin would learn that Danny was in critical condition, but stable. She would also find her phone ringing whens he retrieved as Kal was attempting to reach her after his own ordeal with the Sons of Anubis.
AISLIN: A slender brow arches a bit as he says that reaching him will basically be left up to chance. Lips quirk into a smirk. Of course it'd be that way. Mystery man has to remain a mystery. Help will come when it's most needed. Usually the way it tends to go. Hefting the mace, I set it on my shoulder and watch him leave for a moment. I take a few steps to follow, but stop after a moment and look around the sound stage. Place is a mess and as much as I really want to follow him out, well, I should probably stay and deal with the fallout. They'll want to talk to me anyway I'm sure once the stories of what happened start being told. Better to get it over with than make them chase me.
I talk to the authorities. They ask questions and I tell the story as it happened. After a moment, I inquire about Danny and they fill me in. He's stable, critical, but stable. That's a relief. I make a mental note to go visit and bring him something nice. A token of appreciation.
The authorities excuse themselves from me for a moment to talk to others and during that break I head back to my trailer for a moment, just to sit. My phone rings and I answer it. It's Kal.
He rambles about something for a moment. "Yeah..okay." I nod a little. "We have a lot to talk about.." I say, running a hand through my hair. "Okay..yeah...see you soon. Love you."
And now..I wait.

Arrival and Revelations
TEDDY: Piloting the Bug was second nature to Teddy and even though he was dressed in rather expensive suit he had no qualms about the goggles that were over his eyes. They were more than mere goggles they provided physical protection in more than one ways and they contained sensors that allowed him to gather more information about anything he wanted to know about.
The ride in the bug was smooth there were no bumps or burbles unless there was a swift change in direction, but it was completely stable. It was a mobile crime lab and was the fifth in the line though Teddy was already working on a Mark VI and had designs for Mark VII. He had been working on the Bug's AI tweaking it so it could be more responsible and could easily transferred from one version to the next. Mark VII was designed for a very specific purpose while the Mark VI was standard upgrades.
He looked over his shoulder at Kalvin who was obviously concerned about Aislin's well being and Teddy wondered if there he should share the additional information that he knew or let Kalvin discover it for himself there are some things that they needed to learn for themselves not be told because being told something didn't always have the desired effect. Not like letting them discover it for themselves.
"We're taking a position over St. Roch studios..." Thankfully they were still cloaked because apparently a whole hell of a lot has been happening.
"Kal you better get up here." Moving to his feet he walked over towards the bug eye shaped view port.
KALVIN: As soon as the Bug was positioned above the studios, he'd walk over hanging up the phone when Aislin told them they needed to talk. That was an understatement. "What do you see?" asking as he moved towards the view port. It was still a little surreal to be up here. It was some sort of fancy technology, there was a feeling that flying like this wasn't… natural, That he should be flying on the outside. Shaking his head he'd cross his arms.
"Something's going on. She sounded like she had been fighting. I have a feeling the sons got here first." muttering about running away from a fight. He'd move from the view port and towards the hatch that was used to get in and out of this vehicle. "I have this feeling that your father was a great man. I'm not sure how to explain it. I… just know I've seen something like this before." pressing his lips together.
"Open the hatch. I'm going down. I have to make sure she's okay." he wouldn't be able to forgive himself if something happened to her. So much for school, right?
AISLIN: "Yes..that's what I said." I nod a little bit, explaining to the officers that found me in my trailer what had happened just a few moments ago. I'd retreated here after everything had happened and will probably stay in the trailer until Kal arrives. "Big mummies with axes attacked us. I don't know where they came from, they just...appeared..after the light fell and busted."
The two police officers in my trailer exchanged glances. "It does match up with what the other people are saying.. one says with a shrug.
"I suppose so.." The other says, scribbling a few notes down in his notepad before glancing up from the pad and looking up at me. He arches a brow as his eyes drift down to the mace that rests beside me, then back up to me. "And you fended them off?"
There's a bit of disbelief in his tone which sort of rubs me the wrong way. My eyes narrow for just a moment before I simply nod. "Yeah..well..had a bit of help." I run a hand through my hair and look at the two officers, letting out a little bit of a sigh. "Look, I already gave my statement to your detective and you probably won't hear anything different from me. It's been a long..crazy..day." I glance to the mace for a moment before looking at the officers again. A tired looks come to my face. "Could really just use some time.."
The two officers look at each other for a moment before nodding. "Of course, Miss. Our apologies." One hands me a card. "Call us if you have anything more to add."
I take the card and nod. "Thanks." I watch them as they leave. Once they're gone, I let out a bit of a sigh and slowly sit down on my couch. Fingers wrap around the handle of the mace again and I lift it, just looking at it for a moment. TEDDY: The Bug is on auto pilot so there's no worry about that. However Teddy maneuver's the craft so it's not so obvious that Kal is about to drop out of the air well out of thin air it would seem.
"Kal.." Teddy walks over towards the back of the craft and touches a button that reveals a secret panel that slides open. Reaching inside he pulls an item out and turns to Kal after the compartment closes.
"Not sure of everything that Aislin is going to tell you, but you are going to need this.," Teddy explained while offering him another item. It was an ankh.
I'll be overhead waiting for you. Walking over to the hatch he opened it. "The line ill take you down and it'll retract on its own."
AISLIN: Pressing his lips together, he'd take the Ankh and furrow his brows together. Then looked to Teddy. "Your sticking around?" asking as he grabbed the edge of the ladder. This was crazy, but it was sinking in slowly. The fighting in the library had released more memories. Ones of glorious combat, of never running from a fight. Even now, he knew that he wouldn't have won against the Sons in the library, he hated running away from a fight. If anything, it boiled his blood. Made him want to fight harder. Stronger.
"Thanks for the assist by the way." telling him as he grinned. "Nothing like a fight to bring friends out of the woodworks." It was obvious that he loved to fight. That grin, that look in his eye. "See you soon, my friend."
AISLIN: It's the first moment of quiet I've had since all of this mess started. First time I can let all of this sink in. Everything. The Sons of Anubis. What the Themysciran had said. Change was coming. There were people who wouldn't be overly welcoming to this change, which meant they would try their hardest to stop it, using any means necessary.
Case in point, the shadowy figure and the Sons of Anubis he commanded. I look down at the mace again, lips curling into a small smirk. It was glorious, the feeling of battle. Not only was it glorious, but it felt right. Like, this was what I was meant to be. All this action star type stuff was just gearing me up for this realization. But what would Kal think about it all? Is he going through something similar? Would he be as accepting of it or would he shun it away? Just from what I've experience so far in being with him and the memories I've had, I don't see him shunning it. Quite the contrary. I think he'd embrace it, no questions asked.
What had come to the surface when I took hold of the mace was just the beginning. Barely breaking the surface, of that I'm sure. At the same time, it brought me some clarity. I just need to make the choice.
Nodding a little, I stand from the couch and walk over to a window of my prep room in the studio and peek outside. Things seem to be dying down a little. There are still some people mulling about, giving statements to authorities. Some are being allowed to go home. Pictures are being taken. Standard investigative procedure. My room has a back door that leads to outside the studio. Hefting the mace up and onto my shoulder, because hell if I step out of here without it, I slip out the backdoor and head outside of the studio.
I glance up at the sky for a moment. The fresh air is welcome.
TEDDY: "Well, something tells me that you might need a lift and with everything that happened you might want to avoid being seed for a bit. So yeah I'm good for taxiing for another hour or so. Sides you think I'm just going to cut and run. There might be a few more questions and how can I tease you answers if I'm all the way on the other side of town." There was a grin, but there was a lot of truth to it.
"See you soon and try not to get into trouble down there."
Teddy moved to the front of the craft, because there was another reason he remained here he wanted to scan the area to see if there was anything that he could pick up also scan the police bands to see if he would get information that way. See what they knew and what they were looking for.
Not to mention he didn't actually know where he was headed to from here.
KAL: Eyeing Teddy on the way out the hatch.
"Thank you." telling him as he moved down the ladder until he reached the ground. Glancing around, he could see her on the outside of the studio. A relieved sigh came over him as he ran over to her. "Aislin!" he shouted. Once he reached her, he'd grab her in a great big hug and a strong passionate kiss for a few minutes before breaking it softly. "Are you okay?" asking as he searched her face, then looking down over her. She had a few cuts, but nothing too bad.
But that didn't stop her from pulling her into another hug. Planting a kiss on her cheek. He'd smile brightly as he took her hands into his. "I'm glad your okay, Aislin." he would tell her quietly as he gazed into those amazing eyes of hers. There was something between them, a greater understanding. "What's going on? I heard there was some fighting." saying as he pressed his lips together, eyes looking her face over with a bright smile.
She had the signs of battle written on her, but they were healing. The mace didn't go unnoticed though. Kal's focus was with Aislin for now. "I have a feeling our lives are about to take a massive detour…" and he couldn't imagine spending it with anybody else, he didn't want to spend it with anybody else. Reaching into his pocket, he'd pull the coin out to show her. KALVIN: "Teddy Kord." he says simply as if she should know who he is. "Er, Its hard to explain. But the Sons of Anubis also came for me also, in the library on campus. I think he knows more about me, about us, than he is letting on." giving a shrug as he compared the coin against hers. "Someone is trying to send us a signal. I'm sure he has one also. He has a flying … ship, Don't ask." shrugging with a smile. "I'm just glad your okay." sighing as he gave her another kiss and hug.
Glancing at her mace, he'd reach down to grab it. Holding it as well. He'd hold it out straight. Looking down his arm down the sight of the mace. "I remember making this." telling her "Made it specifically for you. The core is hallow, as is the shaft. Making it much lighter, but 10 times as durable. It was one of my best accomplishments." telling her with a smile before returning it to her. "I don't know why I remember that so clearly." shaking his head as he sighed, then glanced up. "I have a friend in the sky who can offer us protection for the time being." looking out over where the bug would be, he'd glance to her. "He's there… trust me." moving to where he came down on the ladder, he'd give a wave up to the bug. Hoping Teddy could see him.
"I don't think we need to make a choice. I have a feeling the choice has been made for us. From the time we were both lived again." a smile to her. "But, I would not rather do it with anybody but you, my love." telling her as he pulled her in for another kiss. He was no longer nervous around. If the ladder came down, he'd walk over to it, then pull her with him onto the ladder as it slowly started being pulled up.
AISLIN: Teddy Kord, Teddy Kord. I arch a brow a little at the name, but whatever confusion I felt at the sound of the name goes away when Kal tells me he was attacked as well by the Sons of Anubis. A small frown comes over my lips as I give him a quick glance over. He seems okay. No worse for wear. "Yeah, he's not the only one who may know more about us." I nod a little, looking down at the coin and the mace for a moment. The Themysciran seemed to know a whole lot about us too. He was the one who brought me the mace and he seemed to know that it belonged to me. "This..is quite the signal, Kal. Huge signal."
I arch a brow slightly as he mentions the flying ship and look up for a moment, then back down at Kal. Well, that answers the question of how he got here. I hug him tightly, holding on for a moment before letting go. "I'm glad you're okay too."
I step back from him for a moment, giving him some room to check out the mace. Crossing my arms lightly in front of me, I tilt my head, watching him. A brow arches a little when he says he made it for me and my lips curl into a knowing smile. "Well, you did a fine job." I nod a bit and as I take the mace from him, there's a flash of the day that he gave me the mace. We don't look as we do now, but the sentiment is there. He explains the mace and I swing it. There's a clumsiness there since it was my first time with it. Though, lifetimes of practice makes one an expert. I smile a little as the memory fades.
"Protection is probably a good idea right about now." I nod a little. "Considering all the weird things that have been going on and well now this.." I motion to the studio and then back down to the coins. "Somehow, I think we've just become bigger targets than what we were. So yeah..whatever protection your new friend can give us will probably be good."
I watch as he gives a wave up to the sky. If it wasn't Kal saying this, I probably would think he was crazy. But it's Kal. I step a little closer to him as he explains that the choice has already been made for us. I nod a little. "In a way..I think you're right. The choice was made for us lifetimes ago.." I nod a little. "We just have to accept and embrace it, right? Figure out all the missing pieces of this puzzle and just..go with it." I return his kiss and smile at him afterwards. "Nor would I. We're in this together."
TEDDY: The line came down ready for them to take ahold When the grabbed hold of the bar they were pulled up to the opening that seemed to be hovering there in the air. Once they were clear of the hatch it closed beneath them and Aislin found herself inside the Bug which was already on the move.
In the rear of the craft were several monitors and a few terminals. Not as many as before given the changes in computing and actual displays. There were changes that were still occurring that would go into the Mark VI Bug. However even as they moved through the air they were steady and there were no propulsion sounds being made as they traveled through the air.
Despite its size you could walk through it and not bump into one another. Teddy still had his goggles on and was walking back from the cockpit.
“Couldn’t pick up any trace of anything not even some shifts in energy frequencies. Someone either covered their tracks or they left nothing behind and given my experience I’m going to think it’s the former despite the fact that we’re dealing with the undead. Energy is energy whether created by science or magic.” Someone said that once and even if it was on a cartoon it was still true.
Teddy smiled over at Aislin. “Theodore Kord II my friends call me Teddy.” He looked at the mace.
“Oh someone came prepared.” He glanced over at Kal. “It’s got to be killing you.” Yes he was teasing but he moved back towards the cockpit.
“My guess is if you ran into the same trouble that we did that it wasn’t the same person directing the mummies. So there were two. Got in and out and the mummies are probably gone now, but before someone asks. I have not a clue as to who’s sending them after you just know that they don’t want you to remember. “
He hoped into the pilot’s chair and began directing the Bug to where he felt they needed to go.
“Time to use your keys.” KALVIN: Narrowing his eyes at Teddy for a moment as he followed him to the pilots chair. He'd place his large hands on the back of the chair as he leaned forward to look out. "Keys?" asking as he looks down at him, lifting a brow as he then turned to look at Aislin before walking back over to her. Placing his hand on her cheek for a moment. A look shared between them. A smile. There's something that's shared between them, a silent conversation. Pulling his hand back a moment.
Reaching into his pocket, he'd pull out the Ankh and look it over. "You got the weapon, and I got a piece of jewelry. Someone has a sense of humor." giving her a grin. But this was no ordinary ankh, he knew there was a place for it. For now though, he'd re-pocket it as he turned to look at some of the monitors, reading over the information at that they provided.
"Where are we going, Teddy?" asking, his free hand reaching out to take hers. It was amazing how they connected so easily, so effortlessly. Kal was looking forward to seeing where his memories led him. Where they led them.
TEDDY: "Please to meet you Aislin." He said in one beat and in the next. "You do that a lot, Kal," Teddy started regarding the narrowing of his eyes. "I'm starting to think it's me." He grinned a little while bringing the ship to the place where they needed to go.
Teddy was about to keep silent until he heard something he hadn’t heard in ages. “Themysciran?” Was that possible? A Themysciran? Of course it was possible, but he didn’t think he would hear mention of one but perhaps it’s all a part of the Gathering? He didn’t know.
“Did this Themysciran have a name? Diana perhaps?” That was the one that he heard about the most. “Artemis? Hippolyta?” He knew of Themyscirans but he hadn’t met one. All of the Themysciran’s that he knew of were women, because well they were Themysciran.
Of course Aislin had questions of her own which deserved an answer. “Transportation. Analysis of a areas. Tracking capabilities. It’s pretty much a mobile crime lab a home away from home. Kind of a family heirloom member of the family. She’s called the Bug.”
However, back to the Themysciran, Teddy believed that someone would have been sent to aid Aislin, but he didn’t know it would be someone from Themyscira. Even more she had been provided with a brochure, codes and keys.
Walking over towards them he took a look at what Aislin had been given. “You have one key and Kal has been given another.” If they opened the brochure they would see it contained a map of the museum and two sections had been marked the Egyptian Exhibit and then another it was used for a special exhibits.
St. Roch had several museums only one of which had been closed and shut down for years. That was the one that they were headed towards. It was slated to be demolished, but it had been regarded as a historical landmark, but for the longest time it hadn't seen much work. People weren't interested in restoring it, well the right people, but it was protected but it was a matter of when someone would actually turn their attention back towards it.
It had been fenced off and sealed up for years. He didn't need to be told that he had to go there he knew that's where he needed to go. He didn't know what they might find in there because it's possible that someone might know they were headed there then again they might not be headed there.
An image appeared on one of the screen showing them that they were approaching the museum. Teddy moved back to the pilot’s seat so he could slow the craft’s speed they approached the building.
From the outside it was definitely a building in need of repair. Age had taken over, but it appeared to have been damage done from something other than age, perhaps battle. Circling the building slowly Teddy brought the craft around towards the delivery entrance side hatch opening. He didn't want to drop them down through the skylight. Better this way.
KALVIN: The names he spouted off sounded familiar, pressing his lips together, he'd shake his head. Reaching down, he'd grab his table leg mace, tie his hair back and took off his jacket off. 'Prepping' if you will. If she didn't have one, Kal would offer a small black hair band to Aislin as he then walked out after Teddy. Eyes scanning the area, figuring out areas. This was interesting…. There were so many questions he had, and he had this tug that whatever was on that brochure was what they were expecting. This was all moving fast, not so much what was going on with Aislin.
Though, he'd walk up next to Teddy. Glancing to him.
"It’s a little quiet." saying as he took a deep breath before moving up to the door. Taking the key and brochure from Aislin, he'd lead the way into the museum. After opening the door, he'd quickly move over to the alarm panel and punch in the codes that was on the brochure…he'd wait a moment before the panel displayed that the alarms were disabled. "It's clear." he would tell them as he then moved further in. It was dark, but there was enough natural light to see. He'd wait a moment for the rest of the crew to join him before he'd visit the first spot on the museum trip. Looking in the exhibit, he'd see many things that they used. Ancient swords, shields, tools, tablets. Everything, but most of it was damaged and looking beyond repair.
Frowning, he'd glance to Aislin then back to the items. Strong memories coming back, he could remember using these things. "It’s a shame. These are priceless artifacts. I wonder why the museum didn't continue its funding… Teddy, any reason? Do you know?" asking then they'd move on a few moments later to the special exhibit. In a large case, they'd see replica's of Hawkman and Hawkgirl, or rather of their costumes. "I used to wear that, well, close." pointing to the Hawkman one. It was simple, black boots with green pants, no shirt just a harness for the wings. A picture of the two of them hung behind the costumes.
Out of the corner of his eye though, he'd notice a shape in the wall. About the size of his ankh. Moving towards it, he'd place the ankh in it. At first, nothing would happen. But then the sounds of gears and pneumatic hinges would open a good sized door in the ground. Braving it down first, Kal would grin seeing what he'd been wanting to see. A large golden war axe that looked like it was just forged.
"It's starting to come back to me…" trailing his fingers over the axe, he'd move over to the costumes, they were the real deal. Picking up the belt, he'd slide it on. There'd be a pause as all the memories flooded back into him, everything was explained. He knew who he was. He knew who she was.
"My name is Katar Hol."
TEDDY: Teddy made sure the craft sealed itself back up and left carrying the Beetle Gun and googles on. He was already using the sensors that they contained to check and see if there was anything that could be detected. He wouldn’t say that everything was perfectly preserved, because it wasn’t. However the fact that an alarm system was still functioning meant someone was keeping an eye on the building. He waited for Kal and Aislin to go forward before he followed looking around. The light from the windows and the skylight helped, but it had been some time since someone had walked the halls. A thick layer of dust covered everything and the air was definitely stale. Turning towards Kal he thought on it trying to think up a logical reason. “Well, the museum supported the efforts of Hawkman and Hawkgirl after the Fall of the Heroes I don’t think those in power would want anyone treasuring their memory. Nothing’s been moved. I mean some works of art have been taken out but for the most part it’s like they simply sealed the place up.” Which is why Teddy was being cautious because someone might expect them to come back here, but at the same time they would be foolish to come here which meant it might be the best place to come they would simply have to be careful. Teddy had stories and heard them, but he didn’t have the memories it was more like becoming familiar with what had been shared with him rather than have a rush of anything come over him when he reached the exhibit on Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Watching the ankh being set in the wall he watched as the chamber revealed itself. It reminded him a little of when he found his way to his father’s sanctum. Except there were no computers, lab area or work areas. Still it was really here waiting for them to return.
AISLIN: "No, he didn't give me his name." I shrug a little bit, accenting the fact that the Themysciran was male. Mostly because all the names Teddy listed were female names. The names he mentions though, are familiar, mostly out of mythology but there's a slight fog on the edges of my mind. Like, I know them, or at least am supposed to know them.
I take the offered hair band and smile a thankful smile at Kal before pulling up my hair in a messy ponytail as I look at the footage on the monitors. The building looks old, damaged. Some of the damage looks to be from age. Some of it looks like the scars of battle. Makes me wonder what went on in this museum. That, and what connection could it have to us. Even still, as we approach the museum, there's a feeling of familiarity. Like, I've been here before.
"Hrmm..Bug." I look around a little. "Seems appropriate.." Addressing Teddy's answer to my previous question. I glance over at Kal for a moment. He's prepping for battle, or so it seems like. Not that I blame him. With the way things have been the last few days, can't be too careful.
We step off the Bug and head towards the museum. I have my mace hefted up against my shoulder as we approach the doors. I keep glancing around, just looking out for anything that may decide to come up from the ground or some creepy eerie fog that may roll out with skeletons in it. Y'know, typical stuff you may find around a rundown, abandoned museum. I'll watch as Kal puts in the codes and then step in behind him.
I cough a little. The air is musty and the dust seems thick. A look over to Kal. He's the one studying this topic so I figure he'd have a deep connection to it and it'd be a little heartbreaking to him to see these artifacts abandoned as they are. And, I can tell by his frown that he is. The surprising thing is, I am too. It's almost angering and a bit personal the damage done to the place and the lack of upkeep. I make a decision there to use some money to bring this place back up. I think I can manage that rather easily. After all, i've been saving a lot. Anyhow.
I continue to follow Kal through the museum, pausing to look. When we get to the replicas of Hawkman and Hawkgirl's costumes, I tilt my head. I can see my reflection in the glass, superimposed on Hawkgirl's costume. I blink a few times before narrowing my eyes at the image I see. Memories come to the surface. I can see me in it, but in the past. Different scenarios, same outfit. Soaring next to Kal. In mighty battles. "Yeah..me too. Well..that one.." I nod a bit to the image in the glass.
I keep looking at it until I hear the pops and whirrs of the gears and pneumatic hinges of that hidden door in the ground. That breaks me from my trance and I look over as Kal starts to go down into the room underneath. A few moments, and I'm following him, hanging back for a moment and just watching him. A small smirk comes to my lips as he finds his war axe. It's something I've seen before in memories.
I give him some space, watching him as he moves over to the costumes. Not replicas, but the real things. He slips on the belt and he remembers. He says his name is Katar Hol and I nod a little bit. Missing words in memories are suddenly not missing anymore. Stepping up to him, I place a hand on his cheek for a moment, smiling softly. "Yes..yes you are.."
I know who he is, but not who I am, well not fully. I step more into the room and over to where the costumes are. Fingers side over the belt before I pick it up. A glance over to Kal and I shrug a little before slipping the belt around my waist. If it gave him memories, perhaps it'll do the same for me. KEEPER: Teddy pauses when Aislin says he, but he doesn't get the question out because there's a flash of light the moment she slips the belt on and when Kalvin touches the axe. The entire chamber is bathed in light for a moment and all at once they seemed transported to a different time and the chamber seems much larger.
Gone is the stale air and seems clean far cleaner than they have detected before and if they move towards the edge of the chamber they will look upon a different land. One they are completely familiar with. It is the land of Kemet, Egypt as it was once called in ancient times. It is a brief glimpse of everything that is familiar to them in ways that other people would not understand. That is the familiar that is home to both Kalvin and Aislin.
It lasts for only a moment but when the light fades Teddy is perplexed, because he saw nothing, but Aislin and Kalvin may have appeared to be in a daze, but he is startled, but a new presence.
He pauses while the man tips his head at him.
"Give a moment, Teddy." He advises before turning towards Aislin and Kalvin.
"It is true you are as much Katar Hol as you are Kalvin Halloway, but not forsake latter for the former, because the latter adds to the sea that is Katar Hol. One raindrop raises the sea"
He smiled to them both turning slowly to look over the chamber.
"It has been a long time, but it is good to see both of you. He has done well and he chose well in having Teddy and his counterpart see this through."
KALVIN: The light… the light was incredible as he glanced around. Kermet, Egypt. It was where they were from, everything clicked into place. He knew who he was. But the man was right, he wasn't just Katar-Hol, he was everybody. Including Katar Hol and Kalvin Halloway. A smile places on his lips as he holds the axe in his hand. Feeling the weight of it, the strength of the metal. The belt starts healing the wounds he has suffered, the cuts across his chest, the other knicks here and there.
Turning to look at the man, he smiles brightly.
"It's clear, everything is clear now." telling him as he faced him fully. "The Sons of Anubis." saying as he placed his hand on his chin. "I know all about them, I know who Teddy is. Or, who his father was. I remember it all." then he pressed his lips. Remember that his daughter from a previous life had stayed by his side. But, she didn't look like who she should be. For now, though. He'd keep that quiet as he pulled the coin out of his pocket.
"I'm guessing you sent out the coins?" looking over the golden coin.
"What is happening?"
AISLIN: There's a flood of memories. Complete memories. The sudden onslaught causes me to close my eyes for a moment. I press the heel of a hand against my forehead. It's a lot to take in at once Chay-Ara, Cinnamon, Shiera Saunders..and countless other incarnations fill my mind. Memories flooding and filling in the holes, the gaps. When it all subsides, I know who I am. My history. All of it. And I know who Kal is. I open my eyes and look over at Kal, offering a smile but it's brief as the chamber fills with light. I bring an arm to shield my eyes for a moment, but it's not overly blinding.
Kermet, Egypt. Home. It's where all of this started. It's a comfort to see.
When the light fades, I look over at the new person in the room with us. A brow arches a bit and my grip adjust a little on my mace, but I have a sense that he's not a threat. Kal's mind is clear. He knows everything, can recognize everything that's familiar to him and I have the same clarity, remembering everything that's familiar to me.
For the moment, I'm quiet, standing there next to Kal, head tilted a little bit but still looking at the newcomer. The questions I have are the same as Kal's. Shifting a bit, I wait patiently for answers.
KEEPER: "Light is coming that is what's happening, but with the light there will always be darkness. Darkness that follows and darkness that exist. Forces that are at work that wish for the light not to return and it deals with those who currently have power and with the things that have forgotten."
There must always be a balance, because without balance there will be chaos. It was something that should always be considered, but that was not why the Keeper was here. As much as he wanted to welcome his friends back to the lives they once knew there was a task to be completed. Always a task.
"Actually, I did not send out the coins. I merely offered a challenge to the one that did send out the coins. I challenged him to be the change he wished to see. He has sent out the coins. He has been doing what he needed to do to bring light back into the world. He's seen what he needed to see and now instead of watching he is acting, but he cannot do it alone which is why he is reaching out to others like yourselves. He wants to be prepared for what comes next."
Simple as that I explain. Do I mention that this person is my son no I don't need to mention that. It will be understood when they come together, but this I do not only because he is my son, but because I am the Keeper and despite what is going to occur soon, there is another who will need allies at his side.
"Believe it or not I am here to task you with a quest. There is another who will be awakening from his own dream and he will find himself in a similar situation that you and Aislin have." I have no pouches but I hold out my hand palm up and a coin appears in the middle of it.
"Your numbers will grow and you will need them, but this coin what it means is meant for him and just as the son of Ted Kord sought you out Kalvin Hall and Troy of Themyscira sought you out, Aislin the two of you must seek out Jonathan Daniels. There will be old enemies, new enemies and changed enemies. The same as allies. Some will be old. Some will be new. Some will be changed. There is a new world for you to explore, but as always there are threats. Who I was and what I did that has passed to another. There is a new champion of the Lords of Magic. He’s earned his place to take the name I once held. I’m simply the Keeper aiding and guiding where I can. “
His eyes glance towards the coin then towards them. “There are evils in the world that must be confronted, defeated and constantly challenged. You are needed again, Katar Hol and Chay-ara. There are things for both of you to learn but for the moment Jonathan will need your aid.”
KALVIN: Giving a nod, he looks to Aislin, then back to the Keeper. A smile playing over his lips as he reaches out take the coin. "We will do this, Freddy. You have my word." pocketing the coin, he reaches out to offer his hand to him. "It's good to see you again, old friend. I wish we had more time to speak and know each other once more." a nod. if Freddy takes his hand Kal would grin at the now older man. "I remember when you were just a boy. Now, you stand before me a man. How times have changed. We will seek out Jonathon Davis, bring his mind into the light."
Letting go of his hand, he'd reach out to take Aislin's, both of them into his as he brings her closer. Raising her hands to kiss his, he smiles. "It all makes sense now. Why we are here, who we are. What we must do." a smile as he leans in to give her a kiss. Everything makes sense now, every minute he falls more in love with her. There is something to be said about true love, and how it does conquer all. Without her, He couldn't have made this journey. Wouldn't have made this journey.
"Someone taking your name, hmm?" a smile. "Not to worry old friend. We will defeat the darkness, and bring light back to this world." AISLIN: listen as the man speaks. His words mirror a lot of what Troy told me. That Light is coming. Light to push back the darkness. Those that have seen the world and want to bring change and those that don't want the world to change. It's all a higher calling. Much more important than what I've been doing with my life so far. And one that I want to embrace. I may not be completely ready for it, but I know it's what I'm meant to do.
Kal looks over at me and I smile a thin lipped smile at him, giving him a nod in agreeance as he brings my hands to his lips. "It does. Everything's clear. I'm ready to do what is needed, as long as you're there with me." I return his kiss. The connection between us is deeper now with the added understanding. He is Kartar Hol, a man I have loved for centuries as well as Kalvin Halloway, a man I met mere days ago and am falling more and more in love with as we take this journey together. There's no one else I'd rather take this journey with.
Looking back towards Freddy, I offer an appreciative smile. "Thank you, for providing the catalyst that sent all of this in motion." I nod. I'm grateful that Troy had given me the assistance he did and that Kal had Teddy's assistance. Now, it's out turn to lend a helping hand. To bring someone back into the light. "It was good to have the assistance. Someone to help guide us to where we needed to go." I nod a bit, echoing Kal's agreeance to help.
"We'll help Jonathan, just as Troy and Teddy have helped us."
KEEPER: "It is good to see you again, old friend. I wish it could have been sooner, but all things must run its course," the Keeper replied. He now resided at the Rock of Eternity. It was the way of things when their enemies made their move. Someone had to ensure that it was maintained and the world would have to wait for its champions would return. Now that they were beginning to return then measures would need to be taken to ensure that they had a fighting chance.
Taking his hand in his own Freddy shook it with a smile. Simply watching and waiting was something that instilled great patience in him. When it was time for his son to assume the mantle he could only aid him in a limited capacity, but he was able to ovecome so much. Freddy couldn't have asked for any more than his soon was able to provide.
Turning towards Teddy he smiled. "Your father would be proud of you Teddy. You've accomplished so much. You've done that all you needed to do. You will need to return to Chicago and continue your activities. Everyone will know how to reach you when they need to." It was time for new journey's to begin and Freddy knew that Teddy would find himself involved in other adventures sooner rather than later.
"The coin will guide you where you need to go." The Keeper instructed. "They are not of my making, but I know the magic." His son was responsible.
"Times may have changed, but we have not and the world needs us now more than ever. My own time here is limited. I am allowed brief sojourns. No more than that." It made life difficult but they all had their duties.
“I only did what I needed. We all get lost from time to time and sometimes all we need is the right words at the right time to send us in the right direction. The champion has been acting as he should, but with each act he commits he will bring more and more attention to himself. He knows this which is why he is reaching out to those he knows will answer the call. The world is in need of heroes and it’s in need of hope.” His eyes shifted to Teddy.
“Everyone can make a difference. It’s just a matter of taking that first step. I know that you will continue to honor who you are, Aislin and Kalvin, but I must warn you that now that you have remembered you will be in more danger than ever. Be on guard and always remember that none of you are alone. Not everyone perished. Old and new will need you both. Old to continue the fight we all know and breathe and the new to help guide them where they should be. Only together can we bring the world out of the darkness that has consumed it. Only together can the Society and the League be reformed. Only together can the heroes be triumphant. ”
The last bit sounded softer than before as Freddy faded away like he had never been there at all.
KALVIN: Glancing to Teddy, he'd smile holding up the coin.
"We've got a job to do." sliding the coin into his pocket, he'd reach out to take Teddy's hand once Freddy faded. "Thank you for your help. We couldn't have done it with out you. Consider us in your debt. If you ever need help. Please, don't hesitate to call. It's the least we can do." a grin on his lips as he looked to Aislin as he looked around.
"We have more than enough money to once again buy this museum and bring it back to its former glory. Maybe even set up an institution or some kind of fund to keep it going." he'd look into the business aspects later. But, right now. They had some things to do. Pulling his shirt off, he'd then grab the harness of his wings and pull them on. Adjusting it to be comfortable. A grin came over his lips as he looked to her before finally putting on his helmet.
The helm was slightly magical, but maybe it could benefit from some technology.
"Teddy. I have a favor to ask." saying as he pulled his helmet off to hand it to him. "I believe we're going to need something to aide us. I don't know much about technology. But, can you install some kind of eye sight enhancing? Also, some kind of radio receiver to listen to the police bands. And finally, something that will enable me and Aislin to communicate over long distances." curious. It would definitely help them.
AISLIN: We've got a job to do. It's an important one too. The first of many, I feel. To just think that this morning, I woke up a simple person. An actress. Reporting to set to work on a movie and now, now I'm so much more. Funny how important a day can be. One single day. A single moment.
"Yes, thank you." I nod a bit towards Teddy. Kal has said it for the both of us. Should Teddy ever need anything, all he has to do is call or ask. We'll do what we can. Same goes for Troy. I hope he knows that. Somehow, I think he does. We're all on the same team. All wanting to change the world. Make it better.
"Definitely. The cost shouldn't be a problem to bring this place back." I nod a little. Just a matter of paperwork and procedure. Figure out what red tape we need to work around and get it done. Or, just push the Historical Landmark society a bit to give the place some attention. I watch Kal for a moment as he walks over to his set of wings before heading over towards mine. Fingers run over the wings and a small smile comes to my lips. I'm excited to try them out. For years I've had memories of flying. I can even describe the sensations felt in those dreams. Now, I get to really experience them. Excited may not be a strong enough word to describe how I feel about that prospect.
Slipping the harness on, I adjust it to fit. I can't describe how I feel. I feel stronger. The cuts from the battles fought are healing. A glance down at the mace and I hook it on to my belt. Things are just falling in place now. Holding my helmet in my hand, I turn and listen to what Kal is asking Teddy. The modifications make sense. We'll need to adjust a bit to be able to be effective in this time.
"Whatever modifications made to his helm, I'd like made to mine as well." I nod a little. Makes some sense. He can't have all the goodies.
TEDDY: Teddy really hadn’t been reached out to like that before. There had been letters and sometimes a phone call, but no personal visits from the old guard so to speak. Perhaps because of his status he was someone that was in the spotlight most of the time so they had to be cautious, but it was good to see that they were still out there and now the patient waiting was finally going to pay off, but what did it mean for him.
Kalvin was taking his hand and he offered a slight smile.
“Just doing what my father would expect of me.” What Teddy expects of himself, the right thing.
When Kalvin spoke of buying the museum once again Teddy thought upon it. It would be a good idea, but would it be right at the moment. “Just be careful. There are people watching. We’re still trying to recover from all that’s happened. I had to be careful with my dad’s company so they wouldn’t suspect anything.” He knew he was the novice compared to their combined memories, but he lived in a world where his father was constantly trying to make sure that Teddy would have a future.
His death wasn’t an accident. Only thing that saved Teddy was that he wasn’t with him two deaths would have brought suspicion so he had to walk the fine line, but now that things are changing he knew that he would have to be extra careful until they had made enough headway that no one could stop them.
“I have similar features designed into the goggles and I know I can apply them to the helms. I should be able to get that done before I leave for Chicago, perhaps in a day or two. I have a few meetings I need to attend. I’ll have to do the work at night which limits the time, but I should be able to get it done for both helms.”
He pretty much had an idea that’s how it was going to be. He was going to have to get going because he knew that he had given his security detail a time limit. He was going to have to check in with them.
“I can drop you guys anywhere, but I need to get back to the University or my security detail is probably going to be combing the city for me. I’ll rig up the helms and I’ll get a comm frequency that we can use so we can stay in touch.” He was just glad that they weren’t alone any more. Slowly it was starting to come together.
Heroes were coming back. Hopefully Kal and Aislin would get to Jonathan in time, but to be honest he had not a clue who he was.

Coming Attractions - Jonathan Daniels Cameo
---Meanwhile in New York----
“Are you serious?”
That was the question that I was asking myself as I lay there in the seat of my car. It was consumed in flames, but the flames they weren’t touching me. They weren’t touching me at all they were held back. They were held back by something even if I didn’t know what that something was. There was another flame there something that was holding it back. My vision was blurry, but I could swear that it was green, but I couldn’t make it all out.
I had been burned and I was pretty sure something was shoved through my shoulder, but it all seemed to slow down to stop and now someone or something was talking to me.
“I don’t understand…”
”There was a bomb under your car set to go off at the right moment. When your breaks went out and you plowed into the intersection. You were meant to be killed Jonathan. You stumbled into something far more sinister than you could imagine. There are forces at work that you weren’t meant to know about that no one was meant to know about.”
Well, I guess this is where I should back up and cover exactly who I am and what I do, but given the fact that I’m caught in the middle of an explosion that probably should be ripping me apart, but isn’t I can wait on that.
“I’m still confused why aren’t I…”
”Dead? Well I can tell you that. It’s not your time. In fact it’s your time to live, Jonathan Daniels. It’s your time to realize who and what you were truly meant to be.”
Ok so this is really how it went down, but I doubt I can really share this with anyone because I’m still in the middle of trying not to freak out because the fire is real and the screams around me I can hear them too.
“What about everyone else?”
The steering wheel was pressed against my chest the airbag didn’t go off there was no way I was going to get out of this. I’m hallucinating. How come I’m not seeing my life flash before my eyes? I’m totally getting gipped here.
”I can only save one and you Jonathan are the one I’m meant to save. My time has passed, but yours is just beginning. Accept what I have to offer and everything will be different. You will be a part of something much more than yourself. You will be a part of something greater. You will be everything you were meant to be. You need to only trust yourself. I cannot save the others, but I can grant you the ability to save others from fates such as this.”
I would be lying if I didn’t say I was flipping out at the moment, but the voice was so calm and certain at the moment I didn’t know what to say or think just then. I could feel the blood running down my forehead, but I was definitely out of my mind.
“Who are you?”
”I was once called Alan Scott and I was and I always will be the Green Lantern.”
