Synopsis: Troy begins his journey out into the big bad world while trying to find his place in it and getting a little inspired.
----
The world has changed or has it. It is the only world that he has ever known, well that's not true. It's the world he has heard described to him. His mentor told him in so many words that, "All of this has happened before and it will happen again." That the world is cyclical that way that events replay themselves over and over again no matter what anyone says there will always be the haves and the have nots. There will always be someone in power that shouldn't and there will always be those who are oppressed.
Yet there hasn't been a time like it is now or perhaps the world got comfortable with the way things were. Things had been elevated so greatly that when the support that was once there was removed the world fell fast and hard and has been attempting to pick up the pieces ever sense. That was one way of looking at it. His mother would say something else perhaps. She was known to have great compassion, but she was also of the same mind as her people. Stand fast and be ready.
That has never changed, but life is always full of little surprises things that she could not foresee no one could foresee and if they did they either kept silent or were ignored their words falling upon deaf ears. Then there were other things that happened people happened people like him. It changes one's worldview to a point.
Yet that was then and this is now and now Troy is far from home and in a land that is very unfamiliar outside of the lessons he had be taught and the stories that he had been told. He chose this it was his decision yet he knows that this as real as any other place, but perhaps not as dim as he believed it would be.
<i>"This is your task. It's all that I ask of you. The rest is for you to decide."</i> He remembered the words as he was given the items that he was to spread throughout the world unsure of where he was going afterwards. He wanted to see the world know it and when he had been given permission there was only one request a request that had been made by one that he had not seen in quite some time. It had been too long in his eyes, but he had no decision over that in truth he had little decision in many things outside of what he would do and to be honest that is the way that Troy preferred it.
<I>"You have the list and and your destination. The compass will direct you to where you need to go. The sandals well with them there is no place that you cannot travel. Send them by courier. There are some that will understand others well they will need to be reminded. You want to see the world this is your chance to see it in a brand new way. Take your time and don't rush it. Let it come to you. You'll know who to go to next as the list is in no true order."</i>
There were two names that were already crossed out upon the list neither of which he had to concern himself with but it was curious that they were on the list though he did not have to deliver the coins. Even as the question began to shape itself in his mind he looked towards the other who who smiled.
<i>"I hate when you do that," Troy breathed with a bit of a sigh to which a response was a light chuckle.
"Course you do, but you want an answer," the reply began. "Kord has already received his coin. He has also been given a set of tasks. One of which is to deliver the coin to another."
"Kalvin Halloway?" There was no connection that Troy could make at the moment, but he knew that there were some things that weren't meant to be known at least not for him to know it.
"His task his journey one of them at least. We all have journey's we have to take. We all have choices that we must make." The reply came.</i>
Choices. Life was all about choices and change and how they related to one another. Troy could have chosen to not take the coins with him. He could have decided to go one place instead of another, but he was intrigued and he also wanted to know what his place in the world would be. A world that was so different from the one that had been in the past.
He wanted to be here if only to witness the change that was coming and to prepare for the coming storm. It did not need to be said he knew it was there. Whether or not people wanted to see it for themselves did not matter it was coming and there was little that could be done to stop it given the current state of affairs, but in order to allow for a fighting chance hope needed to be brought back to the world and for that to happen decisions had to be made and change needed to be unleashed upon the world once again.
These were the things that he thought about as he began his journey. This is what he thought about when he woke up in the morning and when he went to sleep at night. This was what was thinking about when he threw himself into one situation after the next. He didn't say much when eh arrived in town he didn't seek anyone out. He didn't start looking for the people on the list not yet first he wanted to see and he wanted to know.
He didn't lose himself in the cities that he visited he didn't let what they had to offer deter him from what he wanted to do. He simply wanted to know them. He wanted to know this world. He didn't want to lose himself to excess but he did want to know what each city had to offer.
In so many words he wanted to know if he was able to see what they were underneath all that had become. Had the spirit of the city truly died or was it still fighting to free itself? Had the people given up on all that it was? Had they surrendered or was there some fight left in them? He didn't know. The only way that Troy would know would be to watch and observe and that's how it began, watching and observing the people. Listening to what they said.
Glimpsing those moments when some of the older individuals glanced towards the sky or looked towards the corner of a roof. He could feel the hope there. Some still clung to the idea that there would be justice lurking in the shadows that a men and women rode upon the wind ready to swoop down and given them a glimpse of greatness. Show them that there was so much more than they knew and that they weren't alone.
Troy also observed the disappointment when there was no one there. You could see them deflate, dying just a little more inside and with it the city that they called their home. They wanted something to hold on to, something to believe in, but they could not find it within themselves.
That was until there was an accident that occurred in Philadelphia. He wasn't there, but heard about it. Fire broke out in an apartment building uncontrolled. The fire department was having a devil of a time getting contained and there were people inside. The building had been poorly ran over the last couple of years and the wiring finely blew out and when it did it started an electrical fire that spread quickly, but then it happened.
Someone came out of the shadows, actually they came out of the air down from the sky like a speeding bullet and saved the people and helped put out the fire. The way people described it was like a piece that the Planet used to put out. Astonished. Amazed. Incredible.
No one got a good look at the person who did this, but they didn't have to. A life line had been tossed out to the citizens of Philadelphia and they grabbed on. They tightened their grip and held on.
Their hope, their faith had been bolstered and it was not the only time. There were other such occurrences that began to happen not only in Philadelphia, but around the world. All the accounts the same. Down from the sky the person came and moved faster than the eye could see.
It was enough to give hope to all that had not forgotten who hoped and wished. No one said it, but they all thought it and it was enough to remind Troy that all it takes is one person. One person to stand up and say they will no longer accept the world as it is when everyone knows that it can be so much better.
That they all must do their part whether it's getting coins to the right person or ripping the door from a car to free a trapped child hoping that you don't get seen, because while the time isn't right yet it does feel good and it feels right in a way that you cannot describe or believe.
